Welcome 2012

I just posted our 2012 shoot dates. We will have six shoots, including the Delaware State Shoot, this year. There will be a non-registered shoot on the 27th of April. This is our club shoot. Everyone is welcome.
It seems that most of the uncertainty about the clubs operations is past. We are now in a position to lease parts of the property to one of the several interested “Solar Panel” companies. Some negotiations are ongoing.
We are closing in on the end of the Winter League. Don’t forget to come out and shoot.
Our regular Saturday practice sessions will pick up again after the conclusion of the Winter League. Stay tuned.
The annual club meeting will be held on 17 February at the Fisherman’s Inn. All members should plan on attending. Details will be forthcoming in the mail.
The blog is not seeing very much activity. If it doesn’t pick up I’ll have to evaluate continuing.
Any comments?

Saturday Practice and Winter League

George Stevenson just informed me that Saturday Practice sessions will be suspended until the conclusion of the Winter League. Many thanks to those who supported the Saturday practice and you can still shoot practice on Sunday at the Winter League. If you need more information about the Winter League – click on the Winter League highlight on the front page of the web site.

Delaware Returns

The Delaware Trapshooting Association has decided to return the Delaware State Shoot to Millington for the 2012 season. I think this is great news for both DTA and MSA.

New Information About Club

As you may know the MSA applied for an exemption to zoning requirements from the county. It would appear that the zoning people have approved our request and we are now waiting for the county to sign off. We should hear soon.

With this out of the way, it leaves an opportunity for us to lease a portion of the grounds to an interested party (Solar company). This will, of course, allow us to keep operating as a viable Trap Range.

We have a shot reclamation company currently working at the club. This will provide us with some much needed revenue. With the departure of the MSSA we need to purchase a number of Pat Traps for next year.

Things are beginning to look up for our continued operation.

Irene Results

The MSA grounds suffered no hurricane damage or flooding as a result of Irene. We were very fortunate, unlike our neighbors closer to the river. There was significant flooding along the river and in the town. The only water we received was in a few trap houses. They have been pumped out, the grass cut and the club is ready for the shoot this week-end. The weather promises to be great, so see you there!

WEB Site

I updated the web site today…. finally! I have always bragged about not ever having a hard disk crash. Guess what? Two of them within 3 days of each other. I just completed a full restore and I think I have everything back. Thanks to “Carbonite”. I can finally do some much needed maintenance on the site. I know I lost some individual requests made to the site…. sorry.

Saturday Shooting

This past Saturday a work day turned into an afternoon of practice shooting. Three traps were open and about 20 shooters enjoyed a chance to shoot some targets. So much fun was had that we have decided to try it again. This coming Saturday, 2 April, we will meet at the club at 09:30 AM and see what transpires. Singles, handicap and doubles will be offered.

Club Update

Last week we held our annual meeting and elected the new Board Of Directors.
The latest info on the sale of the grounds is this: An offer was made by a solar panel company to purchase the grounds of the club last year. After negotiations, an agreement was made pending a successful zoning and permit process. The requisite applications were made and a problem came up with the county zoning board. An exception was requested and is now being considered by the board. A decision is not expected for six months or so.
In the meantime the club is operating normally, we have a full schedule of ATA shoots planned for the coming year. Please support us. MSA will continue to operate for a minimum of several more years or perhaps even longer if other arrangements can be made with interested parties. Just remember that the club will be here for the foreseeable future.
There are a lot of rumors, most wrong, circulating in our trapshooting community. Please come to the source for correct info.
I will keep you up to date with accurate information.
